Alpo
You're going down in a parachute, and you're about to land in water - lake, ocean, I don't see where it matters - and someone tells you BRACE YOURSELF! How? What? Disney's The Incredibles. The plane has just blown up, and Elastigirl has grabbed the children and shaped herself into a parachute, and just before they hit the ocean she yells to the kids, BRACE YOURSELVES!! The only thing I could think of would be to point your toes, hold your nose, and cover your crotch. But I don't think that will qualify as bracing. Brace yourself? Rip Snorter
There are WWII protocols for abandoning ship in every Blue Jacket Manual. Simple stuff.
Utah Bob #35998
Water jumps are fun. There is no need to “brace yourself”. Ya just go Splash.
Utah Bob #35998
Maybe Elastigirl makes a lousy parachute.

Cyrus Cassidy #45437
I was taught to disconnect the parachute when I was about 10 feet over the surface of the water. Fortunately, I have never made a water landing, and at my age I highly doubt I'll ever be put on jump status again. The thought of trying to swim out from under the parachute and its cords gives me the willies.
