Abilene Slim SASS 81783
I’ll always remember McDivitt and White from the first space walk with Gemini 4. I read years later in Gene Krantz space autobiography that the mission almost ended in tragedy. In addition to White’s faceplate fogging to the point he couldn’t see anything, his space suit inflated so much outside the capsule that he couldn’t get back in thru the hatch. It was touch and go to stuff him back in without tearing the suit. Sadly, Ed White later died in the Apollo 1 fire.
