Grass Range
Possibly having a barrel cut in 40-82 calibre. Not finding brass with proper headstamp. Any sources?
Tex Jones, SASS 2263
Buffalo Arms (buffaloarms.com) has them under Reloading Supplies/Reloadable Brass Cases and Hulls/39-40 caliber. Only Silhouette cases. Another site is ammunitionartifacts.com, which lists 40 82 cases as available.
Cholla
You can get dies from Redding. You can resize 45-90 brass to 40-82. If you just have to have the proper headstamp, RC Brass makes it, for a heavy price. https://www.rccbrass.com/40-82-winchester-center-fire/
Wallaby Damned
When I shot both the -82wcf and -82 SS, I used reformed 45-90 as the stamped -82 brass was unduly expensive.

I want the correct headstamp regardless of cost. Thanks
Sedalia Dave
Buying brass with the correct head stamp is going to be painful. These are $5.92 Each. https://www.rccbrass.com/40-82-winchester-center-fire/ Load data is pretty scarce as well unless all you intend to shoot is BP. MLV has it in his book, Shooting Lever Guns of the Old West. He recommends 5744. I have been using it for .45-70 and .40-82 Just an FYI, the minimum purchase is 50. That's $300. But, RC brass is machined, not drawn, so they claim it lasts much longer than drawn brass and is much more accurate. Bench rest shooters like RC Brass because of this.
