He has three purple hearts, a silver star and two bronze stars, and a cigar box full of other awards. To talk to him you'd never know he is a bona fide hero. A more soft spoken, un-assuming, almost meek guy you could ever hope to meet, and almost embarrassingly friendly, helpful, and just fun to be around. I have no clue when, where, or how he got all those decorations. He never said and I have never asked. The closest I ever came was the time I asked him if he was a bullet magnet. He smiled a bit and said "It would appear so, wouldn't it?" I never brought it up again. He worked for the VA up in the Puget Sound area after he got out and helped me get some benefit upgrades from the VA. He just never quit serving. I learned way early on to love and respect our Army medics and later on our Navy Corpsmen. I never met a bad one....NEVER! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
