Alpo Posted July 18 Posted July 18 this is a long one, because he keeps breaking the fourth wall to explain to the audience why he keeps screwing it up. But eventually he gets to the punchline, and it is funny 1 Quote

Alpo Posted July 19 Posted July 19 I don't know if I am is the shortest sentence in the English language or not. But I read years ago that I am is the shortest verse in the Bible. 1 Quote

I was sitting there trying to figure out where I AM would be a standalone verse in the Bible. Adam, or Noah, or Abraham asking this figure - are you the Lord God - and the figure replying I AM. But somehow I could not see that happening. So I thought possibly in the New testament. "Are you the Messiah? The son of God?" I AM. But I think you (otto, you moron, I did not say I think you, I said I SEEM TO. Get the damn peanut butter out your ears) remember that Jesus never flat out said that. When Pilate asked him if he was the son of God, he replied "that's what they say I am". So I couldn't figure where it belonged. And then, suddenly, dredged up out of deep long ago memory, appeared what I actually read was the shortest verse in the Bible. Jesus wept. Edited July 19 by Alpo 1 Quote

"I am that I am", and in the Gospel according to St. John, Jesus says, "Before Abraham was, I am." (Interesting construction). Many people restate His answer to Pilate when asked if He was King of the Jews from "Thou sayest it" to "I am." The actual shortest verse is probably Job 3:2, "He said." 1 Quote
