Didn't think about that. I know she can fly inside our atmosphere. I've seen it.

Are you sure she couldn't take off?

A poor Arab arrived in Baghdad. As he passed by a bakery, he was captivated by the aroma of various delicious foods. However, he had no money to buy anything. He took out a piece of dry bread from his bag and softened it using the steam rising from the cooking pot before eating it.

The baker watched this scene in astonishment for a while. When the poor man finished his meal and was about to leave, the baker stopped him and demanded payment. An argument ensued between them.

Coincidentally, Bahlool happened to pass by. The Arab sought his judgment.

Bahlool asked the baker, "Did this man eat your food or not?"

The baker replied, "He didn’t eat the food, but he did benefit from its steam."

Bahlool then said, "That is true. Now listen!" He took out a coin from his pocket and began showing it to the baker. He then dropped the coin on the ground one by one and picked them up again, repeating the process, while saying to the baker, "Take the sound of the coins as payment."

The baker, confused, said, "What kind of payment is this?"

Bahlool replied, "According to my judgment and justice, if a person sells the aroma and steam of food, he should accept the sound of money in return."

Maybe they built her at Newport News, and then lifted her into space with a tractor beam. ;)

Sorry, but we all know that Starships are constructed in orbit because they aren't capable of taking off from the ground.

I know this reveals my enormous geekiness, but the re-boot of the Star Trek franchise with Chris Pine has the Enterprise being built on Earth.   Also Voyager could land on planets and while never pictured saucer sections had landing gear for emergency "lifeboat" landing on a planet.

That's a lot of space in my brain that could be put to better use.  :(

On a question about what you can fire from a musket, one of the answers:

"Besides buck or ball, you could load things like, salt, tacks, or rocks. Muskets are the USPS of firearms. If it fits, it ships."

From the Memory Alpha site, "According to The Making of Star Trek, the Enterprise was built on Earth but assembled in space."

This is for T.O.S, Star Trek.

Voyager was specifically designed to be able to make planetfall while the Enterprise was not.

I try not to think about the Kelvin Timeline. It nearly killed Star Trek, IMHO.

(Yes, I know, but I've followed Star Trek since it was first run.)

In the ST:TOS Gene Roddenberry pictured the Enterprise being able to land on planets. The Transporter was developed for production costs and to speed the pace of the show up.

Kind of. The transporter was to save time and money. I think, if my rememberer is right, that landing was what the shuttlecraft were originally for. Either way, the Enterprise wound up not being designed to land.

That is also what my rememberer is saying.

Two outstanding Palmetto orders at the moment, got my truck nerf bars as LTL shipment today, and car detailing supplies via UPS. I keep pretty tight track of incoming but do get surprised one in a while.

I ordered a new thesaurus, but when it arrived it was completely blank.

I have no words to describe how I felt.

My friend, that one should have been in the Dad Joke thread.

I don't do that. I've seen a lot of people do it but I don't. I occasionally realize that I posted in the wrong thread. If I realize that I do one of two things. I erase it in the wrong thread and post it where it should have been. Or, and this is more frequent, I just leave it there. Y'all don't like it in that thread? I don't care. :P

But I do not double post. Not intentionally, anyway.
