Does this mean I'm not a nice person

I hope they caused some serious damage to their vehicle.

A few months back I had a thread about a hole in the road. The hole is still there. The way the city solved the problem was to put a barricade over the hole. Not no flimsy plastic one, or even one made of wood. This is made of angle iron and sheet steel. Weighs about 50 pounds.

Four times in the past few months I have found it lying in the road. As sturdy as it is, it could not have been blown down. Someone had to either walk out in the road and knock it down because they were jerks, or somebody hit it with their car.

I hope that they hit it with their car, and there is now a large dent in a fender or a door or a grill. I hope there's several hundred to several thousand dollars worth of damage.

Does that make me mean?

Any particular reason why you’d want someone to damage their vehicle because the city isn’t doing their job??

If the barricade isn’t lighted up and brightly marked, it, (the city) should probably be liable for damages to any vehicles!

I bet it cost more to fabricate that than to fill in the hole properly.

This is right in front of my house. It’s been there for about 3 weeks after replacing a water valve. The hole is about 2-3 foot deep!

No, Karma is when the public works supervisor get his BMW dinged by it. Or his wife’s car and SHE won’t let him forget it.

Start putting your trash bags in it to fill it up.

I bet somebody comes by immediately to tell you cease and desist. Then it'll take 6 more months for works to fill it up

A civil, good humored phone call asking Public Works about the repair timeline will usually get either the repair completed or a reasonable explanation.  My experience is that most of the time, they try to provide good service.

My original post was about how to make sure they understood which intersection, since there are two intersections of Arthur and 20th about 100 yards apart. Since my original post a hole has opened up at the other intersection of Arthur and 20th.

I don't think the barricades are difficult to see.

And the holes are not "low spots in the pavement". They are holes.

Not on my watch. We backfill when the job is done and we don't leave until it is.

That's not a pothole. That's a sinkhole from a busted pipe underneath. Not a quick patch. You will see a crew out to dig it up eventually. We would be on it quick but we run a small town utility.
