First shot taken the summer before my retirement.

Often threatened to take a .44 to work, drop a deer, use the city tractor to drag it in, hang it in the equipment bay and reduce it to packages of freezer meat, on the clock ... never did, but threatened to!

(Baby Sis took the second shot, in her side yard!)

....... they will fit in the freezer better if you shoot them with something other than a camera .....   -_-

;)

Yup.

Have not had a draw for any in years.

Last season Shanley drew for antlered deer...but, all they saw were does.

NM has not had doe tags for many, many years!!!

We are waiting to retire, and get to hunt for real!!!

We just arrived at our Mt ranch.  As I pulled up to the house, this guy (6x6) was peeking over the wood pile.  He had four 4x4 friends bedded down nearby.  We dont hunt them, have water readily available, and are usually only here on weekends, so the big bucks tend to congregate here during the archery and regular seasons.

Both of these were good bucks for CA Blacktails.  The 4x5 in the lower photo is in velvet with  massive antlers.

I have 40 to 50 in my yard almost every night. I do hunt deer, elk and antelope, but not on my place.

Buck I got in Wyoming a couple of years ago...6x4 with a 30" spread.

My wife just downloaded the pics from her security trail cameras around our cabin.  I guess the deer are attractive to more than my wife and me.

That is the cabin on the right and a water trough in the center.

We have Moutain Lion, Bear and Deer/Elk...among other critters. It is the mountains afterall.

We do not put out water or food sources around the place...we want to discourage the animals from hanging around, and getting comfortable.

Comfort around humans is a death sentence for most.

....and illegal here in Colorado! No feeding wildlife.

When you keep livestock, you really don't have much choice about having water and/or food available outside.

Hunting big game animals that are drawn to bait or water is illegal here also.

I used to have the stock water trough inside an open 30' sea-train container.  The deer and bear walked right inside to drink.

We have no outside ornamental plantings, but most people in the mountains do, and very little attracts deer like roses, apples, vegetables, or shady lawns.
