No Horse Hair, SASS #77464
I've got experience with Open top percussion 1860's. I consider them to be pretty "cheesy" on the internal parts, but they were cheap and fun to mess with and a good experience. However, I'm looking to pick up the RM type 2 conversion in .44 Special. My question is , how well made are the internal parts in the cartridge guns compared to the cap guns and the Uberti 1873 revolver models? After all. these are $600.00 guns. I shoot a pair of Uberti Smokewagons and have had good luck with them thru limited usage. No Horse Hair
Colorado Coffinmaker
Well, the Lock Works are comparable to other Uberti Open Top pattern cartridge guns. You may well find, before doing anything else, fixing the Barrel to Arbor fit is necessary as will be correctly fitting the Wedge.
DeaconKC
I have one of them and regularly run it at matches. Yup, needed the washer/arbor treatment but it runs great and has digested 100s of rounds of factory stuff and my handloads. No Horse Hair, SASS #77464
Thanks for the info, Pards. I gotta' say. it's a little disappointing. I'm not really looking for a "project gun" at this time. But, I sure do like the looks of that model. Maybe I'll get one just to hold when I'm watching Spahgetti Westerns!
