Ken Manyard was the real deal.  Grew up on a ranch in Texas, bacame a rodeo star, wild west performer,  silent movie star,  then talkies.  Had a trick horse named Tarzan. Later in life his status as a star slipped until he led a miserable life until the end.

John Ford epic The Iron Horse.  Lots of now historic tie is. The locomotive engine they pull up the mountain with horses is now in a museum.  Some of the Chinese actually worked on building the rail line and contributed to authenticity of some of the scenes.  Hell on wheels.  Big cast.  Great quality on the restore.

Yakima Canutt was a rodeo star and silent movie star.  Was credited with many stunts. Doubled for John Wayne and Clark Gable.   Was second unit director.  This is just a hard riding, gun fight,  fighting western.  Lots of dust and gun smoke.

This is a John Ford western with Harry Carey but pretty hooky.  Lots of action but story looks just made up as they went along.  Still fun to watch.  Note that Harry Carey doesn't use a gunbelt. Does a lot of fighting with his rifle.

My Great Uncle, Milton Sills, was a dashing swashbuckler. My favourites are the Sea Hawk and his Arabian sea films.

Unfortunately, he died.of a.heart attack in.1930.?while.playing.tennis with his daughter.

He only made one talkie, The Barker

Wallace Beery made a lot of westerners and action movies. But he made a lot of silent movies too.  I stumbled on the a series if "Sweedie" short comic movies he made around 1914. Some 30 of them.  He dressed as a woman.  It's hard to recognize him at first.  Then the face gives him away.
