Forty Rod SASS 3935
Rowdy is sick and Gil gets a lady nurse to come help. The town thinks it's anthrax and shuts to town down. Gil, Rowdy, and the nurse crash their barricade leaving Peter (Sheb Wooley, a very underrated actor) in charge of the herd. He decides to ride in and see what's going on. Without any explanation, or fanfare, or so much as a comment, he takes his sixgun out, loads a sixth round and re-holsters the gun. I don't remember seeing that before and never with no commentary. BTW I had forgotten how good this series was.

Pee Wee #15785
I think Col Colt's loading instructions had you charging all chambers and capping them when he introduced the 6 shot pistol.

There was / is a stop between chambers on percussion, but not on cartridge Colts. A question of doing what you need to stay alive, risk vs. gain. Blackwater 53393
A savvy gun handler would put the sixth round in and lower the hammer between two cartridges. My grandfather showed me that when I was about seven years old! My dad carried a converted 1860 Colt in his early days as a highway patrolman. He loaded a sixth and lowered the hammer that way when he expected trouble. I’ve heard many times that it wasn’t done, but I know for a fact that it was! Trailrider #896
Rooster Cogburn loaded the sixth round just before going at the outlaws in the cabin. Mattie commented on it.
