CLASSIC COWBOY/COWGIRL SHOWDOWN 2023

Got the new Henry out for a chance to put a few rounds down range.  Had a chance to see what the 'Henry Hop' was all about.  Discovered two things:  first, I'm going to need a good bit of time to get used to the gun; second, shooting blackpowder, that steel barrel gets hot fast...

Whether I'll be up to speed for shooting it at the Showdown will depend on whether I can get some range time in with it.....

Regards,

Johnny

You know I will see what I can do about getting a lot of videos!

Hopefully you can attend one of the Showdowns!

In 2024 it will be back at my home club in Kansas, the Butterfield Gulch Gang... Taking place first part of May.  Going to have some good stuff planned.

Are you planning on breaking out your wholesale?  If so, I suspect you'll win...

You should travel with Dantankerous, he has more clothes then most women travel with.

Good to know.  Guess I need to read my posts before hitting send, I hadn't realized autocorrect changed my original comment from 'breaking out your woolies' to breaking out your wholesale.  Oh well....

How are the challenges of the 1860 Henry coming Johnny?  Getting it figured out?

Haven't had a chance to put more rounds through it yet, I've been busy  working up loads for APP in brass shotgun shells.  I've now got a load that has been working well.  I'll get back to the Henry after shooting Texas State this weekend.

Classic Cowboy/Cowgirl Showdown 2023

The Classic Cowboy/Cowgirl Showdown is once again hitting a different cowboy action shooting range for 2023.

This will be the 7th Showdown, since it began at The Butterfield Gulch Gang in 2017.

The idea of this event has been to get the largest gathering of classic shooters together as I possibly could, and each year those numbers get bigger! Growing from 8 classics in 2017 to 27 classics shooting in 2022, it has been an incredible journey so far!

This event jumps around and is ran in conjunction with another SASS clubs annual event... usually coming back to my home club, The Butterfield Gulch Gang, every other year.

I am proud to announce that for 2023 The CC SHOWDOWN will be held in conjunction with:

The Battle At Adobe Walls

June 22nd - 24th, 2023

The Wolfpack Ranch

Home of the High Plains Highwaymen

Cowboy Action Shooting club located in Pampa, TX

https://www.highplainshighwaymen.com/home

Entry

https://www.highplainshighwaymen.com/battle-at-adobe-walls

Really looking forward to coming to this range, it looks like a great place and for 2022 this annual SOLD OUT... So get them those entries in quick when the entries become available!

There will be some excellent awards up for grabs for this event, I will be putting up a CUSTOM buckle to be awarded to the top classic!  In years past we have even had buckles for Senior Classic, BP Classic, Classic Cowgirl, 1860 Henry  and many more awards!  All these awards are possible, because of the great support and generosity I receive from other that shoot this great category!  Their support has helped make this event legendary! THANK YOU ALL!

I will update what awards we will have as they become available!

If your a classic shooters, don't miss out on this event, and check back often for updates!

If you have any suggestions or would like to donate/help give me a shout at:

majorarttillery@gmail.com

I will start a "Who's Coming List" as folks commit to attending.

Thanks for all the support of the past several years!

Spent the day at a monthly match down at THSS with the Henry, safe to say we aren't quite on the same page yet.....The only question is whether I let that little detail keep me from shooting at the Showdown....

Should be up sometime late Monday night.  Looking to meeting folks there.

Well, delayed at least one day dealing with some property issues that have my tenants without AC in Houston while our heat index is hitting 110.  Hopefully resolved asap, but can't head that way until they are taken care of.  So much for shooting wild bunch...

I checked in at the range today about 4:30 and got my packet and saw the posse list. Told only one flight and we all have the safety meeting Friday morning at 7:30. And yes the wind was blowing some ^_^  :P they had a Giant US flag flying from a crane but they were taking it down when I left. Could be for protection overnight from winds and storms. Will be great to see everyone when they get here. Sorry some of will be missing this shindig.
