Not finding that definition, Alpo; finding instead references to a person with high moral, social or intellectual qualities, or someone who "puts on airs" as if they had such qualities.  That was my understanding as well; never heard it used as a racial reference.

Met him once at a post production dinner for the cast and crew of a TV special.  Super nice guy! He had a fantastic memory and was very “down to earth”!

Trivia:  As an Army Air Corp First Lieutenant, he was a B-29 bombardier and flew missions over Japan.   

 

Can ya spot 'im in the pictures?  ^_^
