Reloading Room

My room is a "hurricane room" per the plans... but it's my vault. The room is a braided cage of 1 inch rebar interlaced every 4 inches floor, walls, and ceiling. The ceiling is 8 inches and walls 10 inches thick of solid fiber mesh concrete.  Then I have a in-swing Fort Knox vault door that runs 12 inches into the walls and ties into the cage. Inside that are my 3 safes and loading equipment.

When I built my 1665 sq ft 5 room 1 bath addition, which I built 100% by myself except for the concrete work,  I planned this room very carefully.  The room is independently wired through a sub panel so I can disconnect it from the rest of the house and run just that room, including the mini split AC (I'm in Florida), off of my generator. I also have a clean air system installed to completly seal it off if necessary. It has compressed air pumped in underground from my garage compressor and I also ran water and drain but I haven't ever attached that. It's 15' x 15'x 7' overall.

If you look close the decor is an 1880's saloon. The work bench is the "bar" with the mirror behind it and on the wall are the saloon doors.

This is my reloading room in the basement.  I built the 8' reloading bench out of 2x4's and 3/4" plywood.  The shelving system was designed to hold all those Dillon conversion/die boxes along with a place to store tool heads.  The shelves are adjustable and the peg board in the middle gives me lots of storage options.  I installed an outlet on the wall above the work bench to plug in the case feeders.  That keeps the cords out of the way.  There is a concrete foundation ledge above the work bench that comes in handy for storing all those heavy bullets.   There are two 4' LED shop lights above the reloading bench.  Below the workbench I store the storage tubs of cleaned brass, shotgun reloading supplies etc.

Mine's in the workshop portion of the barn... Here's a pic after rebuilding.  Refrigerator is for powder/primer storage.  If only it were still so tidy!

Love the poster! I found it funny because my wife, Ima Pettifogger, bought the same one for me after I built my first loading room when we started SASS. We then built the vault where it now resides. That old room is now where little Syster's Revenge sleeps.

Nut serts in the middle edge of the bench to screw down my other loading machines, a vice, case trimmer etc. I built the bench 42" high, so no need for stands for the Dillon. The Mec 600 has been replaced with a Grabber.

I'm going the opposite way.  Cowboy shooter turning into a trap shooter.  I added this puppy about three years ago.  Spolar has been a vendor at Winter Range/EOT so I saved about $100.00 in freight.

You will LOVE the Spolar. They are so nice. It looks like you have the electric auto drive system, mine is hydraulic.

Remember it's UP-hull, DOWN-look and verify the PRIMER, then wad. The auto goes fast and if you miss that little "primer look check" and don't get a primer set then it's powder is ALL over and then it's a pain to get it all back into sequence. It's not a common thing, especially if you're paying attention to everything including your primer chute, but the one time you don't look down to check is the one time it will miss. If your get to running pretty smooth (fast) sometimes the chute doesn't have enough time to resupply and that's when the issues happen so let it stay up every 10 hulls or so to let the primer tray vibrate and fill the chute.

If you have the new primer cup please let me know how it works. It's supposedly fixes any issues with the primers getting set exact every time.

They really do work great, load really fast, and make the nicest crimps.

You folks are makin' me feel inadequate, with my meager set-up!

As for supplies, I'm good for brass, lead bullets, large rifle and pistol primers but really suffering for small primers and powder.
