** Officers Help Pilot  **
*************************

On Sunday, Jun 12th, 2022, A private pilot flying from Nebraska to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, had to alter his route in order to avoid severe thunderstorms that ran him low on fuel.

The Pilot, thinking that the Osage City Airport had fuel, landed at the Osage City airport in town. However, no fuel was available, so he called the Osage City Police Department for help.

Osage City Police Officer Dena Dougherty was available to help the pilot find the correct Fuel octane at BP.

After fueling, the Pilot discovered the latch for his cockpit window was bent and would not latch due to a thunderstorm he flew through.

It just so happened that Osage County Deputy Mike Rooks arrived to offer his assistance to help the Pilot as well.  Deputy Rooks was able to bring several tools from home the Pilot used to fix the mechanical problem that otherwise would have grounded his flight for days.

This is just one example of how every day Police Officers and Osage County Deputies work together to enhance the welfare and safety of those we serve.

Please join us giving appreciation to Law Enforcement Officers in our county for taking the time to go beyond the call of duty to help others in need; and thanks to our community for their support and honor to wear the badge of trust you have given us."

Never leave your canopy open while flying through a storm. I don’t care if you farted in the cockpit or not!
