Would a Cimarron Pietta Parts Mainspring work as a replacement or would the NUMRICH mainspring part be a better choice? I don't want any light springs, I just want as close to original as possible. Brasspounder Posted June 12, 2022 Share Posted June 12, 2022 Before fitting the new mainspring, be sure to burnish the edges/sharp corners on it with a smooth hard steel round rod of some kind so there are no nicks or sharp spots along the sides/edges of the curved part. Colorado Coffinmaker Posted June 12, 2022 Share Posted June 12, 2022 Actually, Filing/Grinding/Sanding Main Springs is not a problem as long as one understands how NOT to overheat the spring and understands how to remove the Stress Risers. Before reliable after-market main springs became commonplace, it was the only method to "Tune" main springs. Just have to know what yer doing.
