He is a former world champ.  He wrote a book on CAS.  He sold SG targets.  Been a long time since he shot CAS.

I didn't know he wrote a book.  He certainly helped with mine.

Super nice guy.  I understand that he went on to shoot 24 hour sniper competitions on a world class level.  No idea what he's up to now.

Long time friend and sadly I have not seen him since he moved from this area.  As Doc S replied, I did not know of him writing a book.  Todd excelled in most any venture he entered from sky-diving, golf, archery, cowboy, then long range which was recognized by military and he then has had tremendous success teaching snipers from many different branches of  service (special, FBI, etc) here and other countries. Needless to say, a remarkable shooter and super guy to boot.

A note: the two main properties Todd used for years were on land of cowboy shooters, Happy Jack and Wagon Boss (Utah & Texas).  He now lives on the ranch in Texas near Canadian.  Todd was civilian although taught so many branches of sniper of military.  His teaching of LONG RANGE shooting is of highest regards.  Oldest son is carrying on the teaching now.  BTW, Handlebar Doc was a horse (family raised and trained horses).

I could go on and on about stories of Todd and my meeting and becoming dear friends.  I miss him and his family hoping to see him and some of family in late June while up at Pampa for Adobe Walls match.    I am so excited about this possibility of maybe getting to see he and Shannon.  Also hoping to see our good friend Longhunter while in the Panhandle .  (These two, Todd & Jim, are a story alone as part of my and late wife, Miss Ann, life.)

(See San Quinton's link about the long range cowboy)

Super photo Sam.  I know there are many who catch the jest of this pic.  What a hilarious moment.  I believe at Cleburne  SW Reg  banquet in Oct 2006.

In 2002 I was at Winter Range, and took Evil Roys classes . Handle Bar Doc and Long Hunter were there there to help teach us.

3 world class instructors to learn from in one class. Almost too much information to soak up

Kirkpatric Leather offered a Handlebar Doc holster set for sale after he won  Winter Range . I still use mine to shoot SASS with.

Super guy and a hell of a shooter

Handlebar Doc, Billy Boots and I have a lot of good memories together. Those were "our" good ol days. :-)

Todd has been super busy the last 15-20 years teaching our Military and NATO countries how to shoot extreme long range. He's a world class instructor that's traveled the planet sharing his skills. His son Colby is now instructing with/for Todd in many cases but he's still very busy.

Billy, I'll see ya at the Pampa match. Not shooting but will be there Saturday. Visited with Todd today and he said him and Eddie will try to show up one day for a visit. They're going to be in Montana that week but should be home in time to come by. Todd would would love to see ya Billy.

They're shooting Sporting Clays and are really good at it. Meet up with them a few times a year at local matches. Shot with them weekend before last and as normal, they spanked me like a new born baby. :-) At least I'm getting some free lessons while I'm learning.

Don't remember the year, but yes at the banquet for the regionals. If I could find my canvas shotgun belt I could tell you the year. I won my category, only because Curl E Kay refused to take it. (I love her!)

Wonderful.  Look forward to seeing you and do hope Todd and Eddie can make it.

Yes, we have some fantastic memories of our good ol' days.  Doc S, Goody, San Quinton, and Assassin probably recall some of the good times too.  Big Timber, believe I might have been in that class also.  Thinking I might have done it in 2001 and 2002.  It was good warm up for the match.

Yep miss Curl E Kay.

I am thinking 2006 because I believe raffle tickets were being sold for lots of nice donated merchandise in Memory of Miss Ann for the Susan B Komen Foundation.  Raffle continued into December where winner's names were drawn at SASS Convention in Las Vegas.  An awesome amount of $10K was raised and I remember escorting Foundation Representative to her vehicle with a bunch of money.

Lord have mercy, has it been that long?

I mis-remembered about the book.  It wasn’t Doc that wrote it, it was Bounty Hunter.

Yes Possum and I was just thinking of him when reminiscing of times with Todd and Jim.  Perhaps the last time all three of us saw him was at a party evening of final match day at Winter Range in 2006.  Host was into motorcycles as well as CAS and I saw Todd and Jim talking to someone in leather biker attire so I head that way and hear a voice from the gentleman calling out "Billy Boots".  Yep, it was Bounty Hunter..  He was such a nice fellow, great CAS shooter of the times,  and wrote a very good book, " Cowboy Action Shooting".

Jim,

I love you too, Goody !!!

Billy,

I'm going to try and make it out for a visit at Comin' atCha this fall. But don't bring any extra 'socks' on my account. :D

All the good things about Todd and Jim are true. Two of the finest shooters and men I've come to befriend in the shooting sports.

There is a secret to beating Handlebar Doc in a head to head competition. Get in touch with me if you need find out. :o;):D

Love and miss you all,

Curl E Kay (aka Sharon)

There have certainly been some names from the past in this thread!:)

And good names at that.

Wish they were all still active. Keeping the history alive should include folks that had such a positive influence on the game.

Todd (Handlebar Doc)flew up to see me a week ago. Concerned about how I was recovering from the stroke I had. We had a good visit. I am doing well and it was like old times. Looked at the ranges we use for the military and shot some rifles. Damn he is a good shot :)

Glad you are doing better.  Having a stroke as remote as you are has got to be scary....heck any kind of health issue at your location.

Thanks Billy ,It was pretty bad.  Biggest problem was getting to hospital.  3 1/2 Hours to get me in a helicopter to hospital in Grand Junction, CO. Said another half hour and I would't have made it. Had to go into my brain and take out stuff. Total paralysis on right side but I am doing better. Can walk, climb stairs, etc. have regained use of right arm, only thing still a problem is fingers on hand but that is coming along nicely. I can't shoot SASS but am making do with the long range stuff. The only disadvantage of living remote with no phone service.:)
