Fanning and the Border Roll -- 1889

There seems to be some question of fanning was made by Hollywood and who really did the Border Roll.  This newspaper is from 1889, long before Hollywood.

Hmmm...if fanning were allowed in SASS would it be another category? What if we could use revolvers without triggers? Interesting thought (to me anyway):rolleyes:

Is there a requirement that our guns have triggers?

 

Fanning is against the rules, but slip hammering is legal. Many people do that. You would not be able to remove the trigger on a Vaquero, or New Model Blackhawk, but on a Colt or a clone or an Old Model it would work.
