Yep you get so many for a certain period (around 24 months from memory and then renewed).....when (if) you've used them up, you're licence gets suspended.

  .............. and your time starts after your last infringement, not after that particular infringement; ie. ... your time starts again if you get caught committing another infringement .........

 

         .... could take, literally, forever (or until you run out of points)  :blush:

We have the same thing in Florida. I assumed that every state had it. You get pulled for speeding, and you get so many points. Careless driving, and you get so many more points. And when you get to a certain amount of points in a certain amount of time, they pull your license.

 

They don't call them demerits. Just points. But it's the same thing.

On Long Weekends and Christmas/New Years/Easter Holidays (high death tolls) we have double demerit points.

I don't think we have points that go up, but I have seen many times signs in construction areas that say SPEEDING FINES ARE DOUBLED WHEN WORKERS ARE PRESENT.
