He doesn't seem to be much of a student of history. Neither was Schickelgruber.

The last time the Russians invaded Finland in 1939 it did not work out to well for them.

But then they retreated, regrouped and went at it again. The Finns had to sign a treaty and give up about 10% of their border territory. The Soviet’s claimed they were provoked by a Finland and that the Finns were supported by the western countries and Russia had no choice.
Deja vu.

Is he really that stupid? If NATO approves the Finns, Swedes, et al, he'd be asking for Article 5 reaction!

Isn't that kinda like how we - and a whole bunch o' other folks - ended up involved in WW I....?

It remains to be seen just what Putin will do when his plans are in tatters. He is not a stupid man. But he is brutal, immoral, and egotistical. Many more will die before he is finished. The cries of “Never again” grow faint when he holds the nuclear sword over everyone’s head. The only hope is that the people will remove him, but for the time being that seems unlikely. The German people never rose up against Hitler, even when their cities were Burt out heaps of rubble and their sons were dying in Africa, Italy, France, in the skies and on the sea. And they had more access to the truth than the average Russian today.

It used to be referred to as "the Russian Flu."

I'll be those liberal socialist European countries are beefing up their military spending now.  They are suppose to be spending 2% of their GDP on military defense.  Most have been way short for many years.

It may take weeks for the Finns to apply to NATO. In the meantime, if Putin decides to threaten or attack them, it would be "nice" for "His Woosiness" to call on the hotline and say, "If you cross that line, I'm going to DEFCON3!"  Won't happen, of course.    Meanwhile, back at the ranch...the Wholesale Price Index for the U.S. is at 11.4% inflation!  I will say that the price of a gallon of gas in Denver had dropped slightly below $4.00 a gallon. Of course, since I have to use mid-grade, I'm still paying about $4.359.

There are reports that Putin has called for 135,000 troops to be drafted. Does he have money for that many uniforms?

They may look funny in Chinese uniforms.

Gas here down to 3.899, one year 3 months ago 1.899.

Milk down to 3.99 a gallon, one year 3 months ago 2.19.

Hamburger (90/10) at 6.99 a pound, one year 3 months ago 3.99.

Chicken breasts at 3.09 a pound, one year 3 months ago 1.99.

Primers at SW (none available) at $55/1K, one year 3 months ago 35.

Could go on and on but how the heck do they figure 11.4% inflation!?!! Oh that's right, food and fuel are excluded from their calculations!

Must be the new math.

If Russia now understands how tough Ukraine is...they will definitely want to avoid the Finns.

The Soviet Union found that out, in the 20th century, much to their dismay.

Considering the "successes", the Russian army has had, thus far in Ukraine, I would not try to tackle the Finns, if they had any sense...which, looks like, they don't.
