There was a good scene in Bull Durham about this.

When "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band came out I swore the lyrics said:

Blinded by the light

Wrapped like a douche

and and a roller in the night.

The actual lyrics:

Blinded by the Light

Blinded by the light
Revved up like a Deuce
Another runner in the night
[repeat to fade]

The funny things is, even though I know the lyrics I still hear what I thought I heard to begin with when I hear this song.

And then we have the Beatles.

This is what it sounds like to me. Whether it's the lyrics or not, I don't have a clue.

JoJo was a man who thought he was a loner, but he knew it could not last

JoJo left his home in Tucson Arizona, bought some California grass

Get back

Dang close! It's "For some California Grass"

Jo Jo was a man
Who thought he was a loner
But he knew it couldn't last
Jo Jo left his home in Tuscon, Arizona
For some California grass

Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged

And the best ever misheard lyrics. Takes a few seconds, but you'll see where it's going.

I suspect most of the concert goers heard it exactly like that…or worse.

I don't think that anyone has ever gotten the lyrics for Wipe Out or Tequila wrong...but I could be mistaken.

Alpo is correct, I hear douche every time I hear that song.

I always thought that the lyrics were “ I went to the desert on a horse with no legs”. About 30 years later my wife heard me singing it that way and busted up laughing and told me what the real words were.

Stevie Wonder song -

Lyrics
My Cherie amour, distant as the Milky Way
My Cherie amour, pretty little one that I adore
You're the only girl my heart beats for
How I wish that you were mine

I can't tell you what I thought the words were up until very recently or I would get banned.

I love the song Gypsy by Fleetwood Mac.  I have no idea what any of the lyrics are but I like it anyway.

When I was a lad, 7 or 8, I had a problems with a phrase in the Pledge of Allegiance. Parents couldn’t explain it so I asked my Gramps. The phrase? “for widget stands”.

I was halfway through high school before I discovered the Pledge didn't say

"One nation, under God, in the window sill".

(confession)

The only song I’m aware of to spawn an FBI investigation.

There’s a song by Stone Temple Pilots called Interstate Love Song, with the lyric “feeling like a hand in rusted chains.” I was with a group of friends and one was singing along and belted out “feeling like a ham and mustard shake.” Needless to say he still hasn’t lived it down.
