Tapered '73 Magazine Spring?

Anyone know where I can get a tapered magazine spring for a 73 carbine?

Grandson shoots a 16" carbine.  It will hold 10 but is tough to load 10.  Yes the spring in it has been cut down.

A gunsmith at Hell on the Boarder, SW Regional, suggested I find a tapered magazine spring, but I can't seem to find one anywhere.

Thanks

Those radically tapered springs were a proprietary item made for the Cimarron 16" trappers.  I don't know if that is still the case.  When I worked there, they never had any in stock, but I did hear from one pard who got the spring from them, so it wouldn't hurt to call and ask them if you haven't already.  There is also a hollowed out magazine plug if you can find one of them.  The end of the tapered spring fits into it and gives another fraction of an inch.

I was able to fit ten .45's at 1.58" in my 16" Cimarron trapper, but switched to Schofields since much easier to load the tube.
