I’ve shot mine successfully to 300+ yds. I did not care for the peep sight on the tang, just used the rear barrel sight. I shoot mine with 14.2 Unique and. 305 cast Bullet from Bear Creek. The trapdoor action can be quite fast with a little practice. A good choice for most cowboy long range side matches as most are 200 yds or so, and turn into a speed match. The trapdoor if faster than a HiWall, roller or a Sharps. fun rifle to shoot. I also use mine for Cody-Dixon single shot matches, and plainsman side matches. Pee Wee #15785
The right bullet you can get to 1000 yards. I have a standard H&R Trapdoor rifle and can ring steel to 1000 yards on a very good day. Old eyes just don't work real well for long range any more. Wish I could justly buying it as you don't see many for sale any more.
