Mac Crackin, SASS 110918
Howdy all I’ve just got a quick question regarding costuming for the Classic Cowboy category, specifically a question as to Boots. The handbook says “Boots are required and must be of traditional design with non-grip enhancing (i.e., NO “Lug”) soles.” I currently have a pair of boots with leather soles but if I were to get a new pair of boots I wouldn’t want to get something I couldn’t wear for Classic Cowboy. What exactly is the standard for “non-grip enhancing soles”? Is it just lugs or is any rubber sole inappropriate? Here’s a picture of a nice pair of new boots. Would the soles on these boots be considered a “grip-enhancement” or is it not really a big deal so long as it’s not a hiking/climbing type of gripping sole? Any help would be great!!! thanks!! PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L
This is the example used to illustrate a "LUG" sole as referred to in the "Classic" and "B Western" category regulations:
