Murphy’s Law - gun related

I looked and looked for a Smith & Wesson model 27 Classic. I had decided that whatever barrel length I found first I would make it mine. They come in 4” and 6.5”.
I finally gave up then found the GP100 that I bought. I told my wife “You watch, now I will find a model 27 Classic.”

Sure enough, I got an email from GrabaGun. Model 27 4” in stock today.

Well, that’s the way it goes.

You know you still want it; buy the S&W M27 too.

If I could I would. Made a promise “No more new guns until Fall.” ;)

Just buy your "Fall" gun a little early.

Currently I'm shopping for my year 2039 gun a little early. :D

You could put it on lay-away until Fall.  A small payment each month and not pick it up until Fall.  I'm sorry for tempting you.

It's happened to me before; guns I've been looking for appear in batches.  Since my wife started shooting cowboy, she's doesn't mind me buying stuff.  In fact, she has encouraged me to go back and get a gun I was trying to walk away from.

You are smarter than that.  I’m beginning to worry about you.

I appreciate the fact you are willing to keep a promise, especially with all the pressure from these "enablers".  I admire you for that.

Good luck.

Tell her the 27 is not a new gun, it's used. :D

Semi off topic; the very first gun I ever paid for with my own money (15 years old; Dad bought it for me) was a mdl 28 Smith Highway Patrolman (same as the 27 but dull blue and lacking topstrap checkering).

Had that revolver Magna Ported when they were still in the small garage they began in.

Shot every discipline imaginable with that gun.

It is on a short list of four guns that I will never sell.

1.  Winchester mdl 37a 20g shotgun

(my very first gun at 5 years old)

2.  Ruger Bearcat

(my first handgun @ 6 years old - my mom bought it from Jewel - Osco drugstore because she thought it was cute)

3.  Smith & Wesson mdl 65 that my dad and I customized to round butt; milled a heavy barrel to an octagon, added a trigger guard spur, had it 100% coverage engraved and fitted with elephant ivory grips.

4.  My mdl. 28

I would surely like to see a picture of that.

Going along with what Creeker posted, I've a few guns I won't never sell.  2 of them come out of the Devel custom shop.  1 is a S&W model 39 9mm.  The other is a 1946 Colt 1911, with a "Property of US Army" stamp.  That's a couple of rare guns.

That is currently in my late fathers safe (I inherited all of his guns when he passed a few years back; but have, as of yet, not found the will to transfer them to my safes).

I will get a picture in the next few days and post it.

@Pat Riot, SASS #13748 while I love Rugers, there's a reason some folks [myself included] are Smith & Wesson snobs.

This is my first Ruger DA revolver. I have had it to the range twice and I like it very much.
I have 7 Smith & Wessons. I like even numbers do eventually I plan to have 8… then 9… then 10… and so on. ;)

Since 1 is an odd number I will have to work on my Ruger numbers too. :D

That statement confused me. I didn't really understand why you should give up your ownership of Snyder's of Hanover or Old Salty just because you were moving back east.
