Got to spend all the time I wanted handling a new Ruger owned Marlin 1895. If it’s a fair representation of what they will be putting out I’m excited! Fit, finish and action were excellent for a mass produced rifle in todays world. Can’t wait to see what the 1894’s look like!

The one I looked at, at a gunshow a few weeks ago, was nice...for what it was. But, I was not interested in paying $1,800, for it. 

I can buy an excellent used J.M. Marlin for less than that, and in a design I prefer. 

So...for me...the waiting continues.

 

 

[Frontier Lone Rider]

Just took two JM Marlin 1895 CBs in like new condition to the pawn shop yesterday, asking $850 each.  I shot this caliber in Long Range, so one I used, the backup was never fired.

 

Once I discovered the 336 CB in 38-55, I never fired the 45-70 again.  So, they have just been sitting in a safe for years.
