Talk like a movie Cowboy or a real cowboy?
I know some people who try to talk like a cowboy when they find I’m from Colorado.
They generally end up sounding like idiots, a cross between Col Sanders and Gabby Hayes.

How does that work? Pirates is baseball and cowboys is football.

That's going to be one strange game.

When I went to visit family in Pennsylvania some guy at a sporting goods store started talking like a California surfer movie stereotype when I said was was visiting from California.
“Hey Duuuuude, the surf’s gnarly man…”

I just looked at him and said “Seriously?”

He blushed then went back what he was doing.

What do either of them have to do with those respective sports?

Busier than a cat coverin' s#[+.

Rode hard and put away wet.

Don't let the door hit you in the backside on your way out.

Rise and shine!

Burnin' daylight.

Dumber than a bag of hammers.

Only a dull knife is dangerous.

You killed it, you clean it.

I reckon we do, Dag nab it.  We in the west ride Sorrel colored horses, in the east, they ride Chestnut colored horses. We lope, easterners canter.

My dad was a real cowboy for time when he was a kid.  He had a lot of sayings that you just never heat anymore.

Don't squat with your spurs on.

Looks like you're tying your pony to a cloud. (Unrealist goals.)

Best "next year " area  I ever saw .

After all the years I've lived in the East, my attitudes, accent and expressions still pop out from time to time.

It originally lured attracted my wife to me when we met, 59 years ago.

For this to work, there will have to be some ground rules and guidelines.  Far too often over the years I've heard well-intended, fun-loving "cowboys" sound more like someone rejected from a Beverly Hillbillies audition.

For something kinda sorta akin to realism, try reading some Zane Grey... although Loius L'Amour might be easier and more fun.  And more of an inspiration for talkin' like a cowboy...

If you're planning on talking like some of his Sacketts, they ARE Beverly Hillbilly rejects.
