Strange how a felon carried a gun illegally and obtained it illegally but we have not seen prosecution for that like we did Rittenhouse.

If you are referring to the third person shot and wounded in the arm, he was not a felon. He had a misdemeanor possessing a firearm while intoxicated conviction which by Wisconsin law did not take away his right to carry a firearm or his CCW permit.

While he wasn’t a felon, he WAS carrying illegally. His carry permit was NO LONGER valid, for whatever reason.

And Rittenhouse was found innocent because he was defending himself as the attacker pointed his handgun at him initiating the attack.

Sucks he was charged in the first place... but $2k fine with zero affect on his right to keep and bear arms is a bargain.

Sounded to me like a straight-out straw purchase; but the Feds don't seem interested in charging it.

What makes it a straw purchase to you?  What I read: Black bought it, took it home, kept it locked up.  Rittenhouse only had possession at the shooting range and riot night in the parking lot until being chased elsewhere.

I don't know the specifics, other than more than one newspaper account that Black bought the gun specifically for Rittenhouse, because Rittenhouse at 17 couldn't buy it. If so, it sounds like a straw purchase.

It doesn't "make it a straw purchase" to me; it sounds like one. Could be wrong, of course.

surprised no one brought up the facts that in those days (with shortages of guns and ammo) people didn’t even know if AR15s would remain available (especially if you listened to the left’s cries for a new assault weapon ban).

Possibly they wanted to get away from the AR stigma not draw more attention to it.

The Left isn't harping on Rittenhouse using an AR because it clearly was used in self defense and shows a legitimate reason to own one ("Why does anyone need a high capacity magazine?", remember?).

It's sort of like the NRA certified instructor down in Texas that used an AR to kill the guy that shot up the church.  You remember, the one that had a domestic abuse charge against him while he was in the Air Force- but the Air Force didn't report it to civilian authorities, so he was allowed to still buy firearms.  Nobody mentions that the guy that ultimately killed the shooter was a trained firearms instructor, NRA certified (because the NRA is eee-vil and their Second Amendment boogie man) or that an AR15 was used for good (because they have spent the last 35 years telling anyone within the sound of their voice that AR15's are instruments of mass destruction that are too powerful to be in the hands of mere mortals- or mere common peasants).

The NRA instructor did not kill him.  He put two rounds into the killer (leg and body) while in the parking lot.  Then pursued him in a vehicle chase.  The killer called his father during the vehicle chase saying he may bleed out.  The killer ultimately shot himself in the head before that could happen, making a pistol the suicide weapon.

I had no idea, sassnetguy.  Somehow I thought the crash killed that perp.  Still... good guy with an AR15 wasn't given anywhere the coverage it should have...
