Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted January 6, 2022 Share Posted January 6, 2022 When I was in grade school, the bookmobile would come by our parochial school because there wasn’t much of a library to speak of. The vehicle was a converted transit bus from the late 40s-early 50s that we could walk through with books on either side of the aisle. I remember the pleasant, slightly musty smell of the old books, and that it was really quiet inside from the soundproofing the books provided. Pat Riot Posted January 6, 2022 Share Posted January 6, 2022 I remember bookmobiles. When I was a kid the elementary schools didn’t have libraries so we had a bookmobile that would come. I pretty sure they came every week and there were 2 or 3 of them as they covered our county, not just our little town. I had forgotten all about those. Thanks Joe.
