Cowboy .45 Special in an unshaved Webley?

Recommended Posts

To any fellow Webley shooters out there.   My nephew has recently obtained one that has not been shaved for .45 ACP.  Or if you prefer, it's still in the original .455 Caliber.   I know Starline makes the brass, but they, and everybody else he and I could think of to check, is sold out.  He does have a line on some loaded ammo, but it's very expensive.

Anyway, I suddenly found myself wondering if Cowboy .45 Special would fit in an unconverted Webley.  It would still have to be downloaded the way ACP would be, but at least he could shoot the thing.

Of course C45S is probably hard to find now as well.   Any thoughts?

The rim's on the cowboy specials are about twice the thickness of a ,455 so I doubt if it would work, I have uncut Webley's but unfortunately no cowboy specials to try in them. wish I could give you a better answer.

They fit both of mine. Webleys are pretty loose on the tolerances.

i think the rims are too thick for the unshaved webley - the reason the trimmed the cylinder was to allow use of 45acp in moon clips and the auto rim cases both are thicker , as would be coy down 45 colt
