Rohatsu, or Bodhi Day

Happy Bodhi Day everyone. While the date moves in some traditions based upon the lunar calendar, once Japan moved to the Gregorian calendar, Rohatsu - literally the eighth day of the twelfth month - began being celebrated on December Eighth in Japan and some other Mahahana traditions. So, today I will celebrate the enlightenment of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha. A meal of rice and milk, meditation this evening, and my daughter will make me a batch of leaf shaped cookies because I am a kid at heart. Unfortunately, work also calls.

Thank you, everyone, for the well wishes. I had a good day, despite needing to work. It went mostly as planned, and I extended my meditation time beyond my normal successfully. Perhaps one of these days I will feel I am up to attending a one day sesshin, basically a day long meditation practice, but that day is far in the future.

May everyone be safe, may everyone be happy, may everyone be healthy.
