Okay so you’re in a jewelry store or shoe store or whatever and it’s hit by a flash mob, say maybe 10 thugs smashing and grabbing. What do you ? Call 911, pull out your Concealed pistol and start shooting or yell Stop or I’ll shoot, hide behind something??
What would you do??:o

I’m supposed to enjoy a bunch of lowlifes robbing the establishment that I am shopping in??

That doesn’t seem to be a very good idea!!  I’m going to back myself into a corner and use my phone’s camera feature to capture as many faces of the thugs as possible!!!  I’ll have my sidearm at the ready to protect myself and any friends or family that are with me!

We should never brook this kind of behavior, but I don’t think that it’s my place to intervene with my weapon.  Especially by firing “warning shots”.

If they accost me or my friends or family personally? That’s another matter entirely!!

Nordstroms seems to be one of the establishments most often subject to these thugs’ attacks!  With their reputation for expensive inventory and well-to-do clientele, they should consider hiring off duty law enforcement to provide security and protect their shoppers and goods!!  Where it’s legally permitted, of course.

I’ve noticed that, up until now at least, this kind of crap only happens in places where the public’s access to personal protection is restricted…

Watch. This will be justification for the current administration to have the FBI monitor the personal accounts of people on internet social sites for possible flash mob activity under the Interstate Commerce clause using NSA technology.

As to what would I do? If possible, I would incapacitate a couple of these dirtbags to be interrogated by police later so they can learn how the dirtbags communicated and set up the flash mob.

Right now the people committing these group robberies don't seem to want to hurt people for the sake of hurting people.

Other then trying to escape/stay out of their way, I will do absolutely nothing unless I am attacked and in reasonable fear of death or grave bodily harm.

Those that feel otherwise should remember what George Zimmerman and Kyle Rittenhouse went through before be found not guilty.

They want security, they can hire security. It ain't my CCW. Get out of the way and call 911. Now, if I were to feel threatened? Game on!

Here in the PRK, when you use your weapon, your entire life will change... for the worse.
Unless you are in real distress or imminent danger, leave it holstered.

To me, this is like being dropped back in time into the Spanish Inquisition.
As a student of history, you know full well the atrocities that are coming.
You also know full well that is not one single, solitary thing you can do to prevent it.

Try to be invisible.  Don't call attention to myself.  Observe so I can report.  Don't even pull out my phone, unless I can do it from concealment.

These things are over very quickly.  They seem well organized - coordinating dozens of vehicles and scores of people.  Many of them apparently with hammers, crowbars, and other such weapons.  So, there you are with your two carry guns, 87 extra magazines, and Bruce Lee-like reflexes and situational awareness, facing 50 thugs armed with impact weapons at the very least.  Is opening fire really a reasonable option if you are not being directly threatened?

Well, you could start singing 'DIXIE'.   Then when they start attacking you (assaulting you), pull your defensive firearm and

'protect yeowndangself'.

You'll probably be on camera, which will clearly show self defense.

;)

Thank you, Kit.  Some very excellent voices in that mob and a lot of practice and coordination went into the preparation.

I've only seen two flash mobs, one in Las Vegas that I suspect was staged by the casino where it was held.  The other was at The Montclair Plaza in California just a short walk from the Claremont Colleges complex that is home to five or six colleges in about a square mile.

Both were excellent entertainment.

With these gangs/thugs/thieves/flash mobs (according to AOC) simply trying to get bread to feed their families, why are they stealing/looting/robbing high end hand bags?

I much prefer the response to be the same as the LEOs did with Bonnie and Clyde.
Hundreds of large caliber bullet holes and dead bodies sends a strong message to criminals.

Most (actually -- all) of the stores these groups are hitting have surveillance cameras. They don't need me or mine.

The group flows into a store in a mass, go for what glitters or what they already have scouted, and can be aggressive with people standing in their way.

I haven't been in law enforcement for over forty years, I don't carry to rescue property, and I doubt that any store would step up to pay for my lawyers if I drew a gun to to save their merchandise.

If I can't find an exit or a path away from this kind of group, I'm going for someplace defensible, somewhere that they won't likely go, like around automotive or maybe work boots.

Pull my underwear over my head (atomic wedgie) and grab a Rolex or two (and a diamond ring for my wife) :D

I'm unlikely to be there in the first place. I don't live in a blue city or go into high end stores. Now if they came down on a Home Depot or drug store where I live, I'd get the heck out of the way. The bad guys might even find themselves in a "Northfield" type situation.

The images you get from most security cameras you can't tell Sophia Loren from Hulk Hogan.

In many cases, the images you get to see on the evening news aren’t the full measure of the quality of what the system records.

Besides which, that doesn’t come under the heading of my problem. If they want better security, they should pay for better cameras.

Not quite.

This thread is about mobs who organize and descend on a store, breaking display cases and stealing massive quantities of merchandise. Getaway cars are pre-positioned. In minutes they’re off with hundreds of thousands in merchandise.

The entertaining flash mobs are put together by a local musical or theatric group, and usually coordinated with the store. They have nothing to do with the criminal mobs.

There are zillions of videos floating around YouTube. Here is one of my favorites:

I guarantee this was not a criminal act.

Aha....

That is where I was confused.

Listened to my daughter...who was confused.

Yup...organized crime rings...

They all start somewhere.

I'm not concerned with flash mobs ransacking stores. We live in a day and age where individual shoplifters aren't even nabbed anymore. If the stores don't wake up I'm certainly not going to step in and save their stuff.

If these thugs start targeting customers like me inside the store however, that's a completely different story.

That one's easy. Hogan has bigger breasts and less hair. If the security has audio, He's the one saying "Brother" all of the time.
