Uriah, SASS # 53822
And original Trapdoor? 22:1 twist, too slow. 500-520 gr is about it.
Professor Thoreau, SASS 2611
Hello Pee Wee, Thank you for your interest in this mold. One of the original loads for the Springfield trapdoor was with a 500 grain bullet. The bullets from this mold run around 550 grains when cast with 20:1 alloy. I have used these in my original trap door with no problems and even won a 200 yard "military" shoot using black powder back in the late 1990's. Obviously each gun is different and I would want to be sure that the gun being used was in good repair (Smile). I hope this helps. Depends of the bbl ROT. That bullet would be best with 1/18 or 1/16. OLG
