Professor Thoreau, SASS 2611
SOLD to Jon C Thank you! For Sale: Shiloh Sharps Model 1874 Rifle Chambered in .45-70 with Heavy Barrel I acquired this rifle over 35 years ago and have used it in a variety of applications since then including NRA Black Powder Silhouette, long range up to and including 1000 yard shoots, and Schuetzen shoots (200 yard offhand and rest). However, I have not used it in the past decade due to deteriorating eye sight and more aversion to recoil as I migrate along the pathway of life. It is time for it to find a new home. This is a heavy rifle chambered in .45-70 with a 30 inch barrel, double set triggers, windage adjustable MVA Long Range Soule rear tang sight and spirit level front sight. It is under the NRA weight limit of 12 lb. 2 oz. for the Black Powder Silhouette game. This rifle is in Excellent condition including the bore and mechanics. I have always cleaned it right after use and not neglected it or let it sit around uncleaned. It was made by the Shiloh Rifle Company in Big Timber, MT. You will note that the barrel is stamped “Old Reliable” so it was made before C. Sharps gained the exclusive rights for that marking. The serial number is 8343. This rifle shoots fine with smokeless, black, and/or duplex loads using a variety of bullet weights from 305 up to 540 grains. The original front sight, tang sight plug screws, and spirit level front sight inserts are included. Please look at the many pictures to evaluate this rifle. $2450 Shipped to your FFL in a hard case in the lower 47 States [Sorry, no sales to Alaska or Hawaii due to shipping cost and no sales to California because I do not have a local FFL dealer who will ship there.] The first “I’ll take it” gets it and then please send me a PM. Thank you for looking. Professor Thoreau SASS Life 2611
