Howdy Major.

I 'think' Marlin produced an 1897 'Texan'  or something like that, during their latter years before selling out to Remington.

 

It was basically a nice model 39 with straight stock and OCTAGON barrel.   It resembled our 'Cowboy' model 1894's.

 

I hope my memory serves me correctly.....

Howdy Widder, You're correct, They made a .22 lever action designated the 1897 as well as the 39,But his original add he said 1894 .22.

?  I have a 1897 Marlin 22 with Octogon barrel Made in 1901.

I believe  that was before the Model 39 was even started ?

I may be wrong when the 39 and 39A come about .

But I beleive  the 1897 Come first and then it become the 39 then 39A .

And Then Marlin started making the 1897 Again .
