my daughter is a competitive ballroom and latin dancer... I had to learn photograpy to not pay hundreds of dollars to pro's at the events :)  my $4000 investement in the gear paid off in last few years for sure... and I became a free photog for all the couples in our studio...  I had been kicked out of the competitons because when officials looked at my DSLR they assumed I was a "bootleg" photographer not buying the consession :)  I had stranger parents approach me and ask to take pics of their kids :)

I want to explain this photo:

I caused an issue that started a rift in our marriage...so, we had a week off for a local match, that got cancelled. We decided to take the rig up and get away...just us two.

And after the very first day, we saw NO ONE.

Hiked, relaxed, talked.

One evening, just before the sun was going down, I looked up at the clouds...and there it was!

God sent us an Angel.

We both still find peace in it. Have it on a piece of canvas, on the wall.

Actually the Cobra was the Warthog of it’s day. The Huey was more. It could drop you off in a bad place and then pick you up, and bring your chow and mail, and take to to the life saving place. It was a taxi, an ambulance, a gun platform, a truck, and a killer.  ;) Always mixed emotions when hearing one.

The Huey was the C-130 of the rotary wing family in its day. Any mission. Anywhere.

This was an AirTractor that was scooping water up to fight a bushfire, unbelievable skill the pilot has to come down and scoop water whilst flying, the sound of him gunning the engine to get altitude when he'd filled up was pretty cool. He and a few other AirTractors probably did around 200 pick ups in front of my house.

On one of our trips a few years back..the owner of the van park where we stayed built this miniature paddle steamer in his spare time.

Not a landscape but one of my favorite pictures. Youngest granddaughter watching a chipmunk on the window sill.
