But whatever his talents, which were great, John Wayne was never all that great as a romantic lead; always a bit wooden. It's a really good movie, I watched it again a few months back. Dantankerous Posted November 2, 2021 Share Posted November 2, 2021 Rio Bravo is certainly on of my favorite westerns. I loved it as a kid and I love it today. I've probably watched it 20 times over the years. Makes sense since I'm a Dean Martin fan as well as a Duke fan. Rio Lobo got "steamier"with those ladies. Three absolutely beautiful gals in that JW movie. The movie was pretty entertaining as well. Now I know what I'm doing this weekend, on the couch, with pizza, beer and a remote.
