Remembering actress and singer DALE EVANS (1912 – 2001), who was born on October 31st.  She got her start singing on radio before appearing on film opposite Roy Rogers, the "King of the Cowboys." Eventually, they married and became one of Hollywood's best-loved couples. The Cowboy and the Señorita proved to be the start of one of Hollywood's most famous on-screen duos. Evans joined Rogers and his famous horse, Trigger, for The Yellow Rose of Texas (1944). The pair continued to work together, co-starring in a total of 28 films, including the 1946 productions My Pal Trigger, Rainbow Over Texas and Roll on Texas Moon. In addition to acting, Evans wrote and performed songs for many of her projects with Rogers.  - Wiki

Dale Evans is the reason I like strong women. In most movies and T.V. shows of the time, the woman's job was to get into a jam, scream, and wait for the Hero to come rescue her.

On "The Roy Rogers Show", ROY would get into something, and Dale would come to HIS rescue, guns a blazin.

The beginning scene of DON'T FENCE ME IN.

Dale is a newspaper reporter. She is undercover, as the entertainment, at a meeting of a bunch of crooked politicians. She has a camera hidden in the doll.

Afte we moved to Ontario, California my wife insisted on us visiting the Roy Rogers Museum  up in Victorville.

We went up late on a Thursday evening and there was Dale talking to some fans.  One of the ladies asked Dale if her husband was around and was told, "Oh, He's around here someplace playing Roy Rogers."

We got to meet them both and I had them sign my brand new confederate gray Resistol hat.

My son still has that hat in his home office in a glass case.

Forty, you're my new hero. That was always a dream of mine, but 'twas not to be.
