If it rained for two weeks their pistol and holster would have been soaked and their rifle and rifle scabbard would have been soaked. Rendered fat a small cleaning kit, scrub it oil it and keep an eye on it. Most 'working guns' are expected to get used up. Kinda like the bed of a farmers truck.
