Dutch Nichols, SASS #6461
If you have a 510 series with the block under the grips, can you alleviate it with a different strut or must the entire grip frame be replaced?? My thanks in advance.
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
I am not sure exactly what you mean by "alleviate it." Are you trying to replace the block? First why? The block does nothing unless you put the key in and lock it. On later models Ruger started using a sheet metal plate instead of the block. You can probably call Ruger and get one. You can also get the plate with a built in over travel stop from Shotgun Boogie. https://sbgwllc.myshopify.com/collections/ruger/products/ruger-hammerstop-with-lock-in-the-grip-frame Here are a couple of extra photos of the Boogie part. The top is what Ruger now basically uses. The bottom holds a screw to adjust over travel.
The Original Lumpy Gritz
Remove the lock. Then you shape and fit a #10 fender washer in place of the lock. OLG
