Subdeacon Joe
The photo is from 2017, as the mop up from the Tubbs Fire was winding down. Time for my annual "Thank You" letter to the Australian Embassy. They were some of the first here and last to leave, and fought the fires like they were defending their own homes. Wallaby Jack, SASS #44062
..... they often practice by actually defending their own homes. Seems it's not just an "Australian" thing .....

Seems it's not just an "Australian" thing ..... What really struck me was that the crew from Australia was here on the third day, beating some from places in the US. That photo was taken in early November 2017, a month after the start of the Tubbs Fire. By that time three quarters of the crews had gone back home. But the Australian contingent stayed on.
