Not sure what it would be like to carry one all day (not a thing down here in Oz) but I surely like them, both my sons have one as well for shooting IPSC and they are very competitive with them. Capt. James H. Callahan
Then you have us odd balls that own and love both. I carry a G43 just because it carries so much easier. And it's wonderfully accurate. And yeah it's ugly but I don't carry it for looks. JHC
DeaconKC
I carried a Commander for years, but eventually switched to a Sig 239 in 40 but now carry a Kahr CW45. With a Mec-Gar Officers mag I have 8 rounds of 45ACP in the gun and another 8 rounds in my spare 1911 magazine. The gun weighs 19 ounces unloaded and is thinner than either of my previous guns. ShadowCatcher
Like so many of us I too have gone through the evolution of carry guns, from the heavy 1911 to lightweight tactical Tupperware. Age has had a big influence on my decision making as well as technology. I find I can no longer spend a weekend shooting the .45 with impunity, my wrists start to complain after the first couple of hundred rounds and are pretty much done in by 500. 9mm with it's more modern projectiles has finally come around to being a suitable replacement for the big .45, at least in the minds of law enforcement (and they convinced me too). I've previously owned and discarded the 1st gen Glocks, too bulky and grips were as bad as the S&W 9mm pistols. I've gone through the progression of guns of various size, the Hi-Power, the Kahr K9, the Walther PPk, etc. I finally learned to like the Glock 43, and after some trigger work and some +1 and +2 mags, and RDS I have found it to be suitable to my general (summer) use. Having said that, I just came into a Langdon modified Beretta 92 compact, and that will be on my belt a good 6 months of the year, as in this climate it is easy to conceal, and it shoots like a dream! Same size and almost the same weight as a Glock 19, but much nicer to shoot! If I lived in an open carry environment - ie Arizona or somewhere like that I might consider carrying my 9mm 1911 and a spare magazine, that gun is a hoot to shoot and extremely accurate (fitted Clark match barrel). Few guns are as attractive and ergonomic as the Colt SAA, but alas that one is not too practical, so after that we make compromises on looks or tactical suitability. Just my $0.02 worth . . .
