This weekend

Going to the local-yokel, postage-stamp-size gun show, here in town, this weekend. I haven't been to a gun show this year, yet.

In normal times, I go to at least ten a year, or more.

This time I am going to concentrate on prices of things...like primers, brass, bullets, powder...presuming there are any of those things there, that is.

I will have several barf-bags handy, from the "sticker-shock".

I am hoping to find some prices on some items, that I can stand. Not holding out much hope.

As a friend of mine once said:...."you can go to hell for stealing, the same as you can for murder". I am hoping, then, to find some "heaven-bound" seller to do business with.

I dread going, in a way. I know, in addition to making me sick at the highway robbery of the items, I will get as mad as a wet hen over it all.

Like as not I will also get mad at the non-firearm items there...jerky, candles, perfume, windmill and solar devices, peanut stands, cheap knives...and list goes on. I like knives, but if I want to look, and am interested in knives, I will go to a knife show...NOT a gun show.....for crying in a bucket!!!

I probably have more firearms in my closet, than they will have at the "show". I am betting that will make me mad, as well.

Well...you ask....why go then, if I will just get ticked, sick, and disappointed???

Because afterwards, we always go to the local Tex-Mex restaurant, and get Tex-Mex food, and tequila. Nothing mellows me out like a shot(ssssssss) of tequila, or a margarita(ssssssssss).

Get mad....and then get glad. Yep, going to a gun show, nowadays, is just an excuse to drink.

Yippie Yi Yo Ki Yaaaa!!!!  :D

I quit going to gun shows when their prices became equal to, or more than, retail, and when they stopped concentrating on guns and accessories and started pushing thing like camouflage underwear, John Wayne clocks, tactical toiler seats, and other miscellaneous foolishness.

We have more real gun stores per capita than anywhere else in the country and I've learned to graze in their pastures.  Once they get to know you you can get things like .45 ACP ammo for $27.00 a box of fifty, 100 rounds of .22 short for $9.75, etc.

Most of our local stores will network for something in particular that they don't have in stock.

Understand, this is for locally owned stores, not the big box chain stores that don't carry anything I want , and milk the customers for whatever they can get.  Boris at Desert Eagle guns is one of the best.  I've bought stuff from him and had him cut the already low price 35% at the cash register.

I went to one two weeks ago, small show. I sold a gun and picked up some 9mm ammo for $55.00 for two boxes and a box of Federal Syntech 9mm for $35.00. I also bought a candle!!:o

It could be worse, you could live in the Northeast.

CT has maybe 1 gun show a year, about 150 tables and mostly antiques and older guns.  Need CT permits to buy guns and/or loaded ammo.

MA has a 4-6 gun shows, need a MA permit to buy guns, loaded ammo and reloading components.

NY gun shows are 1.5-2 hours drive one way and not worth the drive, no idea what I can and cannot buy.

NH, VT & ME are also 1.5-2 hours drive one way, but are mostly smaller shows with 500 tables at most.  Can buy almost anything I want, but it's probably not legal in CT.

Some of the Pards do live in very restrictive States, when it comes to sporting/hunting, and the legal use of firearms.

All of you have a special place in my heart for having to endure those things.

I think when the rest of us criticize other States, for their marxist/socialist/nazi leanings, toward firearms, we overlook, or neglect those Pards that live there, and have to endure that climate.

The criticism is toward the government, the stupid restrictions, that give the appearance of lowering crimes with firearms, but don't work, and have never, and will never work. The left want "we the people" to be unarmed. Simple as that.

The criticism is, or should, never be against our Pards that live there, and are enduring stupidity in government.

Many would rather be able to move to freer locations, but they just can't, for various reasons.

Many of our Pards are outnumbered, at the voting locations, by ignorant sheeple, that want the government to run your life from cradle to grave, because they believe Americans are too ignorant to run their own lives.

Bottom line is, any criticism should be clearly directed against the stupid, restrictive, firearms laws, that take away our rights, and freedoms, and we should be reminded that the Pards living in those places, more than the rest of us, are painfully aware of what is happening, and hate what is happening in their State. They live in the front-line trenches, and have to endure the stupid leftists, and their lies.

My cowboy hat is off to all of you...our brothers, and sisters, that support the 2nd Amendment, and that love our sport.

God bless you all.
