Uberti, Lakeville CT?

I recently saw a 44-40 Uberti '73 lever action with the barrel stamped Uberti, USA INC, Lakeville, CT.

I am not familiar with that stamp. Is this an older Navy Arms rifle? Something different?

No Navy Arms stamp or any other importer stamp I could find on it.

Thanks for any helpful insight.

Uberti USA was the importer of "generic" Ubertis back before Beretta bought Uberti.   Uberti USA then morphed into VTI gun parts, and a "generic" Uberti is now imported as a Stoeger.

Mrs Uberti and the owner of VTI Gun Parts, I have forgot her name, have been friends for years.  Maybe this ties the barrel stamp together …

Where are VTI Gun Parts’s headquarters?

VTI Gun Parts’s headquarters are in PO Box 509, Lakeville, Connecticut, 06039, United States

Maria Uberti, Aldo Uberti's daughter ran Uberti USA in Lakeville Ct.  Uberti USA was Uberti's prime US importer.  When Uberti was sold, one of the conditions was Uberti USA could no longer exist.  Maria went home and the facility became VTI Gun Parts, operated by Lisa Miller.  Lisa was Uberti USA's Parts and Service Manager.  VTI Gun Parts is still chugging right along.
