Cypress Sun
I could use some help with ID and a value estimate on a Bowie type knife that has floating around my family for years. The knife is at least 65+ years old. The only identifying marks on it are the words ROMO or ROMA with an arrow through it on one side of the blade and Solingin Germany on the other. The sheath is not original to the knife and was made by an inmate at the SRD (State Road Dept. now DOT) back in the 60's. I've posted pics below. Thanks for any help that ya'll can give. Father Kit Cool Gun Garth
@Cypress Sun, Does your knife have the word BOWIE on the blade? I see that yours also has an "81" on the blade as well just above the ROMO logo with the arrow through it, just like this one: A quick Internet search led me to this one, although not the same length. https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-solingen-germany-romo-brand-1696014871
Texas Joker
I have a solingen straight razor. When my pop gave it to me he told me it was a Chevy level razor not Cadillac but still good quality
PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L
Here's a similar one (stag handle, though) that sold for $100 on an ebay auction: LINK
Cypress Sun
Thank ya'll for the replies. My Googlefoo (not really Google) has been failing me lately. I never noticed the 81 above the ROMO at all. Thanks for pointing that out! Any ideas as far as the vintage of the knife?
