The Highwaymen

Buckshot Bear

Recommended Posts

Took a break from Westerns last night and watched another Kevin Costner movie "The Highwaymen" seen it when it first came out and enjoyed it just as much again.

Really like the scene when he enters the gun shop to get 'tooled up'!

“- Maney Gault: How many bullets you got in you?
- Frank Hamer: Sixteen, I think.
- Maney Gault: It might be good to have a doctor look at you sometime.

- Maney Gault: I ain't got no bullets in me.
- Frank Hamer: Because I was covering you.”

Wonderful movie.

I really liked how they don't ever really give you even a good look at Bonnie and Clyde till the end. That keeps the focus on the lawmen who brought them down rather than the highly romantisized B&C part of the story that is usually told.

I never saw it until I found it at the local library a couple of weeks ago.

Referring to another post, I spotted 1918 BARs (not A1s) a Remington model 8 (or81.  I couldn't a get a good look at it), what I think was an early Winchester semi-auto rifle, and a few other guns correct to the period.

Added a lot to an already good movie.

Ended up watching it again the next evening.

I haven't been able to find this on dvd or bluray. Everywhere I've checked never shows a release date.  Have to look some more.

It’s on Netflix.

Don't forget the Colt Monitor. Probably the first time I've seen it in a movie.

I forgot about that one.  Our local police department had a Monitor that they sold about the time I graduated from high school.  They said it was too powerful and just wasn't needed....but they kept two Reising submachine guns.
