Anyone ever sat in one of those chairs you see in movies about New York etc and got a shoe shine?

There used to be “shoe shine stands” in barber shops, bus stations, department stores, and even a “two seater” in the Nashville courthouse!

My grandmother used to take us to Nashville to shop and she’d sit me in the stand and have ‘em give me a shoe shine every time we got to town.

How much would it cost today to get a shine?

I was putting on a show with my band a couple of years ago and the club we were playing had a shoe shine stand.

There wasn’t much of a line and when the first set was finished, I walked over and took a seat! My old lineman’s boots never looked so good!

Charged me $5.00!

Always liked that story. Hopefully he did not still have it in his pocket when he went through security.

I was listening to his story about Dave building the wall the other day, and I got curious. So I looked him up. Fluffy isn't Mexican. Fluffy is American. Fluffy was born in California. He makes this big thing about how he's a Mexican but he's not a Mexican. He's an American.

Kiwi boot polish was developed in 1906 by William Ramsay and his business partner Hamilton McKellan in Melbourne, Australia.

The name "Kiwi" was chosen in honour of Ramsay's New Zealand-born wife, symbolizing the brand's connection to the region.

Initially, the product was marketed to farmers to protect their boots, and it quickly gained popularity due to its superior formula that preserved leather, added shine, and restored colour.

Australian ownership

Over the years, Kiwi has been owned by a variety of corporations. For the first six decades of its existence, it was one of the iterations of an Australian corporation with Kiwi in its name, all based in the state of Victoria, including Kiwi Boot Polish Co. (1913–1916) and Kiwi Polish Co. (1916–1971). The company then joined with Nicholas International Ltd., a Melbourne-based pharmaceutical company producing international brands such as Aspro and Rennie. The new company was renamed Nicholas Kiwi.
