Actually that gun was the first thing I saw in the picture. Then the guy bent over with the fish on the stringer. Looks like he's holding a real short rifle. That stick down there by the ground bent and sort of looks like a buttstock.

Was thinking it looked more like a hunting trip than the fishing trip, with all the guns.

Only in OZ do you need a lookout armed with a shotgun while fishing. ;)

Or that's how they fish. I don't think they do it any more, but a several years ago they had a rifle fishing season on Lake Champlain north of Burlington. People would use tree stands and step ladders to shoot fish in the flooded park areas.:D I'm told a 30-30 was the gun to use. Sounds pretty red necky to me!

10 (9) = 90 ÷ 5 = 18, + 32 = 50

So 10c is 50f. I'm a Florida kid, and I not only wear shorts when it's 50°, I frequently don't wear a shirt or shoes. Unless the wind's blowing. That windchill will get you.

30 (9)=270, ÷ 5 = 54, + 32 = 86

30 C is 86 f? And Aussie kids wear coats when it's 86°??

That's actually why this American doesn't understand the meme.

Actually..........Aussie's (just not kids, but not me I wear shorts all year round like Alpo above, but I respect folks eyesight and their appetites....so always wear a shirt in public) anyway back to Aussies.....it's been a LONG STINKING HOT SUMMER ....  you know that heat when ya' don't think you can handle it for much longer and you're about to go troppo because it ain't getting down below 29°C (85°F) at night and the humidity is hovering around 98% and you look at the forecast and the next 7 days is expected to have highs of 40°C (105°F) with the UV maxed out and you're thinking of that new crop of sun cancers that your skin specialist is going to love you for so he can fly first class to Europe for his holidays......

Well AS SOON as it hits 18°C (65°F) you'll see boofheads wearing North Face jackets and the like and saying "Damn ain't it cold today" :( :( :(

Definitely a yumm.

Funny anecdote, first time I fixed them sauted in butter onion and garlic, my son told me that the "apples" tasted great! :)

Sounds like a typical August day in Kansas!

Or the Deep South.

Anybody that's ever been stationed at bases Benning or Polk during the summer can vouch for that.

Flint Westwood once told me that the hottest 2 places he'd ever been was Viet Nam and Ft Benning during the summer.
