Never saw those here.  Can you imagine them today?

We still have the Labrador seeing eye dog spare change donation figures for the blind in supermarkets, but they have to be now chained to something strong. Scumbags took to carrying them out....stealing the whole dog to get a couple of bucks.

They miss an awful lot of the of the good fun we had.  The '50's may have been the best of times for kids.

Yeah, we used to dress up like cowboys and frontier soldiers, shoot guns and have contests where we shot targets.....kind like now only my knees hurt more and  ammo is a lot more expensive than BBs.

Had them here in various shapes, some sort of similar to coke bottles which are the ones I recall best.  There used to be penny candy counters in little neighborhood stores stocked with all manner of sweets.

CANDY CIGARETTES....in a mostly Mormon community.   Evil, evil, evil!  :o  <_<

Bill,

Allow me to let you in on a secret.

Aussies really don't like Vegemite.

They heard it was a beer byproduct, locked in on the beer part and are too stubborn to admit that it's actually nasty and they were wrong.

This is a DC3 that was converted into a McDonalds at West Lakes in South Australia, the plane was originally used by the U.S. Air Force from 1942-1944. It was built at Long Beach, California and delivered to the U. S. Army and mainly operated as a “Biscuit Bomber” around North Queensland and New Guinea.

It has now been taken away and is being restored back to original condition.

This jar is from the early 1930's

On the back is a serving suggestion -

'Vegemite contains the nutritional elements of yeast and is one of he most potent sources of Vitamin B complex,' the label read. 'Use in sandwiches, soups, stews and gravies. 1/2-1 teaspoonful in a glass of hot milk or water makes a nourishing beverage.

That's me done, finally a vegemite recipe that's beat me down.....in milk and hot milk at that....no thanks mate.
