@Wallaby Jack, SASS #44062 Remember these? Remember coming down the back stairs and it was just totally open....you slipped you were dead.

I do remember them, our local bus company had a couple for a while, but I didn't get to travel on buses until I started High School back in '70. By then they had gotten rid of most of them and my school bus was an old White semi-trailer bus because of overhanging trees on the route. We got on the bus at the halfway point and still had over 1/2hr ride to school, mostly standing because of crowding. The return was no better, but sometimes we got a seat :).

When I went to school, every kid in Australia got a bottle of milk every day, Can still remember in summer how hot that milk was!

Ours came in little cartons with the folded top/spout.

Will peeing on it stop the pain? Or maybe a little Adolf meat tenderizer?

Vinegar is best, but if you can't find a vinegar station....get people to pee on it as fast as possible.

No one wants the pain (that will stop your heart) or the lifelong scars.

Want to explain that for us non-Aussies?

Australia has the highest death rate from melanoma's in the world. The sun down here is unbelievably fierce the UV index is off the charts.
All schools have the policy - No Hat...No playing Outside at morning break and lunch break.

Somehow I can't connect Australia with lederhosen.  Had a pair at that age, and still have a pair that fit.  Great and indestructible for small boys, and even better. most have a jackknife pocket on the right side!

Would that slab be full of of tinnies, or is that just something my Kiwi friend says? (He mentioned he was going fishing and reckoned he'd blow the froth off a tinnie or six...) :D
